| The content of the things shared [at the training day] was absolutely great. It is not often that a speaker can move me to tears but when Tony was speaking about the collapse of the great commission in the west, he's come closer than any other speaker I've ever heard. If that doesn't move us to action I'm not sure anything else could. There were times when he seemed to speak more with the authority of a prophetic to his generation for such a time as this. I hope and pray that this teaching gets to every part of Christ's church in the west, it will be like water falling on thirsty ground. Kenny |
| It was awesome. It really made me examine myself in the light of God’s word. I kept thinking would there be enough evidence to convict me of being a Christian and I guess the answer was often no. I felt hugely challenged that if I loved Jesus and loved those around me how could I look my saviour in the face on judgement day when he asked me why I didn’t speak up for him when he had given his all for me. [The training day was] a real
encouragement for me not to be discouraged even when I don't see the
results! It was so good to be reminded that it's God that does the
saving, I just need to be faithful in telling others. Jan |

We had 15 people attend on the
day [Saturday] and they all said it was brilliant!!! What a
great day - it set many of us free when he explained what evangelism
was and wasn't! Saturday was well organised and there was a real
buzz. We now have a possible 15 budding evangelists champing
at the bit to get out there and, as the prophet Nike says - "Just do
it". Sunday night was also fantastic. Too many people is a
nice problem to have! So from our perspective we would like
to thank you and your team for their hospitality and an inspiring
weekend. Richard |
| The Release evangelism training day was a real ‘turning point’ for my husband and me. As Tony Anthony and his team led us through what evangelism isn’t and on to just exactly what it really is, we realised, with shame, that we could have been doing this for years. But then, with thrilling excitement, the Avanti team showed us that we could be involved in this most essential act of obedience to the Lord from now on. If all we ever manage to do is the easiest and most simple form of evangelism (delivering gospel tracts anonymously) it will be so much more than we are doing now! We are resolved to start by simply giving out tracts and to pray for the courage to speak about Jesus and explain the full gospel to people face to face. We feel excited and energised that we can make a start in getting the gospel under the noses of more and more people and that the Lord, in His sovereign will, can take and grow our efforts as He sees fit. We’d like to thank Tony and his team for their vision and energy and for leaving us no where to hide; we simply have to become involved in the great commission! Jeremy & Caroline |

An inspiring day clearly spelling out what Biblical
evangelism is and is not. Now I wish that our whole
Church had attended. Greg |
| [The training
day was] a very challenging and in some ways essential basis for
evangelism. The conference presentation/material was very biblical and helped me to focus on what our evangelism and outreach should be all about. It was also very encouraging to share evangelism experiences with those from other churches. [The Sunday evening was] a wonderful evening of testimony and challenge with an excellent gospel presentation. Darren |

I
found the training day very worthwhile. I realise
now that many of the things I thought were a good
Christian witness need me to actually explain the gospel in words to be
fully effective. There is not much point ploughing and
watering if there hasn't been anything planted. Now I need to
work out how to fit evangelism into my everyday life. I also
really enjoyed how the day was presented, I like fast and furious!

| I found the whole day [Saturday] interesting and challenging. Coming from a church which is not afraid to show love and being the only person there from my church I have been left with a hope that somehow we can be awakened to the importance of "Go Tell" and folk be helped in the "how?",because I am sure most find this the hardest part of living as a Christian. | I thought the Sunday evening was of particular appeal to men - most of those who responded seemed to be younger men. Excellent! I was very taken by the pastoral faithfulness of those who visited Tony in prison. They didn't give up, showed real love towards him, which won through. Gordon |

VISIT BY TONY ANTHONY
TO
THE CHURCHES OF
READING, BERKSHIRE
OVER THE WEEKEND 12
& 13
MAY 2007
The
Release Conference was
attended by about 100 people from a cross section of Reading churches
and was
enthusiastically received. Tony was an inspiration to us all and not
only did
each delegate have the gospel and the meaning of evangelism redefined
to them,
they were also introduced to a powerful salvation message geared to
effectively
share Jesus with the lost. Everybody was greatly challenged about the
need to
share the gospel.
On
the Sunday night we booked an 800 seat venue for the Tony Anthony
Testimony
evening and ran out of seats early. People of all ages crammed into the
aisles
and doorways. Fortunately we were able to accommodate the residue in an
overflow area where they could follow everything on a TV
monitor.
We
estimate that over 1000 people came along to hear Tony’s amazing
testimony and
many were deeply impacted by what they heard. A large number of people,
young
and old, made a first time commitment to the Lord on the
evening.
We
look forward to Tony’s second visit with us in September and we believe
the
venue, Rivermead Leisure Centre, which seats 2000, may be too small,
such was
the enthusiasm received from Tony’s visit in May.

VISIT OF
TONY ANTHONY TO SOUTHPORT
OVER THE
WEEKEND OF 2-4 FEBRUARY
2007
The
invitation to Tony Anthony came as a result of a number of people
reading Taming
the Tiger. In
June 2006 Elim’s
senior pastor, Malcolm Hathaway, invited Tony to Southport and the
weekend was
set for February 2007. The purpose was to be two-fold – an outreach
weekend to youth
and adults and a regional Release
evangelism
training conference. Much prayer and preparation went into the event in
the
town, and word was spread among the churches.
Friday
2nd – Tony began his full day with
school assembly at
Meols Cop Secondary School at 8.50am, followed by a morning of classes
with
year 9 pupils. These were arranged through John Allen, one of the
school staff
and member of Elim Church. After a short break it was on to Ainsdale
High
School for a special assembly/class period with senior pupils. Tony was
guided
through the day by Karl Jones, Elim’s youth pastor, who regularly
visits these
schools. Karl said ‘in all my years of schools ministry I have never
seen such
a good response’. The school staff were impressed and the school was
buzzing
with talk of the visit. So many children wanted free copies of Taming the Tiger
that Tony had to get
extra stocks delivered from the publishers. In the evening Tony spoke
at Elim’s
youth group, where 55 young people came to hear his story. Five
responded to
the gospel invitation.
Saturday
3rd – Tony led a Release
evangelism training day for Lancashire, hosted at Elim Christian
Centre. Around
85 attended from Southport and across Lancashire. The response to the
day was
very positive, with high scores on the evaluation by those who
attended. A
higher local attendance had been hoped for, but this was Tony’s first
visit to
Southport and thus breaking new ground.
Southport’s
Floral Hall became the venue for a Taming
the Tiger
evangelistic outreach at 8pm. Members of the Elim Church had
worked hard to pray for and publicise this outreach in the town. Over
300
people attended and heard a powerful presentation of Tony’s conversion
and a
clear gospel proclamation. Six people responded to the message and were
counselled. Many others heard the Good News of salvation through Jesus
Christ
for the first time.
Sunday
4th
– Tony shared his vision for evangelism with Elim’s
congregation in the morning, and at a united service at Christchurch in
the
evening. Both were full houses, and several more responded when the
gospel
invitation was given. In all some 15 people made first time commitments
to
Christ over the weekend, the majority being young people. Many others
heard the
message. The seed was sown, and someone will reap the harvest!
