November 2007 - Reports
Tony
Anthony's first visit to Ipswich was on Saturday 3 November and Sunday
4
November. It is hoped that these days have given people who did not
know Tony
the opportunity to meet him and gain the confidence necessary to take
full advantage of the week in April 2008, when Tony will spend
time working with the churches. To give us feedback on what you thought of the November events click here.
Committee Reports
Saturday 3 November
10.00 am until 4.00 pm "Release" Training Conference run by Tony Anthony at Whitton Baptist Church, Highfield Road, Ipswich.“Release” was an evangelism training conference designed to motivate, equip and mobilise people to confidently, joyfully and effectively participate in the Great Commission. The three aims of the conference were: to clearly define the Gospel; to redefine the meaning of evangelism; and to provide practical tools that enable people to spread and proclaim a carefully crafted salvation message.
Over one hundred people were present, and the day seems to have been very much appreciated. Many filed in an appraisal form which will show more accurately what attendees thought - the results will be published here once the analysis has been done.
Sunday 4 November
7.30 pm Evangelistic Event with Tony Anthony at Orwell Church, 114 Fore Hamlet, Ipswich
The venue was
packed out with 650 people! Most arriving after 7:00 pm for a 7:30 pm
start were struggling to get seats. Stuart Balmer interviewed
Angela Little who wrote the book 'Taming the Tiger' for Tony. She
explained how the book came into being and how it's now been translated
in many languages and is in 26 countries. One chapter now forms part of
the national PSHE (Personal, Social & Health Education)
syllabus in schools. Hundreds of copies are given away in prisons.
Tony
Anthony shared his gripping life story and presented the gospel with a
very clear, easy to understand manner. Around twenty folk made some
form of response to his call for people to believe and receive Jesus as
Saviour and Lord. There were others who didn't make an outward response
but who are known to have been challenged by what he said. We now need
to continue to water what was sown with our prayers.
